Converting re-encodes each image, so the new files carry no EXIF metadata (location, camera, date). Only need a few files, downloaded one by one? Use the [image converter](/tools/image-converter/).

## Work privately, then store privately with DragBin

Processing a file in your browser keeps it private in the moment. The files you keep and share need that same guarantee for the long run. DragBin protects files with [client side](/client-side-encryption/), [quantum resistant encryption](/post-quantum-encryption/) (ML-KEM + AES-256) keeping sensitive data private with a [zero knowledge](/zero-knowledge-encryption/) security architecture.

## How to Convert a Folder of Images

Choose your settings first, then add the folder. Conversion starts straight away.

Step 1

Pick the output format, the quality and, if you like, a maximum size.

Step 2

Choose or drop a folder (on a phone, select your photos). Non-image files are skipped.

Step 3

Download one zip that keeps your folders and file names, with the new extensions.

## Why Use This Batch Converter?

Converting one file at a time is fine for a handful. For a folder with hundreds of images in nested subfolders, you want the structure kept for you.

### Folder Structure Kept

Trip/Day 1/IMG_01.png comes back as Trip/Day 1/IMG_01.webp in the zip.

### Format, Quality, Size

JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF, with a quality slider and an optional longest-side limit.

### Free, No Signup

No account, no watermark, no daily quota.

## Your Folder Stays on Your Device

Images are converted inside this browser tab. They are not uploaded, so nobody else sees them.

### No Uploads

Only converter code is fetched, from dragbin.com: the AVIF encoder, a WebP encoder for Safari, and a HEIC decoder when needed.

### HEIC Included

iPhone HEIC photos in the folder are converted too, even in browsers that can't open them.

### Desktop or Phone

Pick folders on a computer, or select many photos at once on a phone or tablet.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How do I convert a whole folder of images at once?

On a computer, click Choose folder or drag the folder onto the page. Every image inside it, including those in subfolders, is converted, and you get one zip with the same folder layout and the new file extensions. Files that aren't images are left out and counted.

### Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Phones can't pick whole folders, but you can select many photos at once with Choose images. They are converted the same way and saved in one zip.

### Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Your images are decoded and converted in your browser and never leave your device. Some formats need extra decoder or encoder code, such as AVIF, WebP in Safari, and HEIC in browsers that can't open it. That code is downloaded from dragbin.com; your images are not sent with it.

### What does skipping files already in the target format do?

When it's on, a file that already has the format you picked (for example a .webp when converting to WebP) is copied into the zip exactly as it is, without re-encoding or resizing. Turn it off to re-encode those files at your chosen quality and size too.

### What happens if two files end up with the same name?

If photo.png and photo.jpg sit in the same folder and both become photo.webp, the second one is saved as photo-2.webp, so nothing is overwritten. Files already in the target format keep their original name.

### Is there a limit on how many images I can convert?

Up to 5,000 files per batch and 100 MB per file. Each image must be under about 16.7 megapixels after resizing, so pick a max size for very large photos. Converted files are held in memory until you download the zip, so for more than about 1 GB of output, split the folder into smaller batches.
