## Work privately, then store privately with DragBin

Processing a file in your browser keeps it private in the moment. The files you keep and share need that same guarantee for the long run. DragBin protects files with [client side](/client-side-encryption/), [quantum resistant encryption](/post-quantum-encryption/) (ML-KEM + AES-256) keeping sensitive data private with a [zero knowledge](/zero-knowledge-encryption/) security architecture.

## How to Compare Two Images

Spot the differences between two images in three steps:

Step 1

Add the original as image A and the changed version as image B.

Step 2

Switch between swipe, side by side and difference views, and tune the tolerance.

Step 3

Read the stats and download the difference image as a PNG.

## Why Use This Image Comparison Tool?

Checking an edit, a re-export or a screenshot regression by eye is slow and error-prone. This tool measures the change pixel by pixel and shows you where it is.

### Free

No fees, no watermark on the difference image, no usage cap.

### Runs in Your Browser

Nothing to install. Works on desktop and mobile browsers.

### No Signup

No account and no email. Open the page and compare.

## What You Get

Your images are decoded and compared on your own device and are never uploaded to a server. You get numbers, not just a picture.

### Private by Design

Images never leave your device. Closing the tab discards them.

### Adjustable Tolerance

Ignore tiny compression noise or catch a single changed value.

### Byte-Level Check

A SHA-256 fingerprint tells you if the two files are exactly identical.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Both images are decoded, compared and hashed inside your browser. They are never sent to a server, and closing the tab discards them. If your browser can't open an AVIF or JPEG XL file itself, the page downloads a decoder from dragbin.com, but your images stay on your device.

### How does the difference overlay work?

Each pixel of image B is compared with the same pixel of image A on the red, green, blue and alpha channels. If any channel differs by more than the tolerance you set, the pixel is painted red on top of a faded copy of image A.

### What if the two images are different sizes?

The tool tells you, then stretches image B to image A's dimensions before comparing. Scaling itself changes pixels, so expect some differences from resampling alone in that case.

### Why are large images compared at a smaller size?

To keep the comparison fast and within browser memory limits, images whose long side is over 2048 pixels are scaled down to 2048 pixels before diffing. The page states when this happens. Very tiny differences can disappear at the reduced size.

### What does byte-identical mean?

The tool computes a SHA-256 fingerprint of each file. If the fingerprints match, the two files are exactly the same down to every byte, including metadata. Two files can look identical pixel for pixel and still not be byte-identical, for example after re-saving or stripping EXIF data.

### Which image formats can I compare?

Any format your browser can open, typically JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF. Images above 60 megapixels are refused because browsers, especially Safari on iPhone, cannot reliably draw them.
