# Disk Space Analyzer: See What's Filling Your Folders

Pick a folder and get a map of where its space goes: the biggest subfolders, the largest files, a breakdown by file type, big files you haven't touched in a year, and possible duplicates. Only file names, sizes and dates are read, and nothing is uploaded.

Choose files

Your browser shows this page only the folder you pick. It can't scan your whole disk or system folders, and it can't delete or move files. Chrome and Edge may ask whether to "upload" the files: that's the browser's wording, and nothing leaves this tab.

## How to Find What's Taking Up Space

Three steps on a desktop browser, no install and no account:

Step 1

Click Choose folder, or drag a folder onto the drop area, and pick something like Downloads or Documents.

Step 2

The analyzer adds up every file's size from the list your browser provides, without opening any file.

Step 3

Explore the treemap, click into the biggest folders, and review the largest, oldest and duplicate-looking files.

## Why Use a Folder Size Analyzer?

Running out of space rarely comes down to one file. It's a forgotten video export, a pile of installers, or the same photos copied twice. Seeing sizes laid out makes the clean-up obvious.

### See Sizes at a Glance

A treemap draws every folder as a box sized by how much it holds, so the space hogs stand out. Click any box to look inside.

### Find Large, Old Files

Files over 100 MB that haven't changed in a year are listed together. They are usually safe to archive.

### Spot Likely Duplicates

Files with the same name and exact size are grouped as a hint, so you can check them and keep one copy.

## Private by Design, Honest About Limits

The analyzer runs entirely in your browser tab. It sees only the folder you pick and only reads what the browser already lists about each file.

### File Contents Never Read

Only names, paths, sizes, types and dates are used. No file is opened and nothing is sent to a server.

### Only the Folder You Pick

A web page can't scan your whole drive or system folders. It sees exactly the folder you choose, nothing else.

### Look, Don't Touch

The page can't delete or move files. It shows you where space goes; you decide what to clean up.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The analyzer reads only the details your browser already lists for each file: its name, folder path, size, type and last-modified date. It never opens or reads what's inside a file, and nothing is sent to a server. Chrome and Edge may show a prompt asking whether to "upload" the files; that's the browser's standard wording for giving a page access to a folder, and the files stay on your computer.

### Can it scan my whole drive or system folders?

No. A web page can only see the folder you choose, never the rest of your drive, and the browser may refuse or skip protected system locations. For a full-disk view use your operating system's storage settings. This tool works best on a specific folder like Downloads, Documents, Desktop, a project or a photo library. Very large folders can take a little while to list.

### Can it delete or move files for me?

No. The page only receives a read-only list of your files, so it can't delete, move or rename anything. It shows where the space goes. Once you know which files are big, clean them up in Finder, File Explorer or your file manager.

### How accurate are the possible duplicates?

Treat them as a hint. Files are grouped when they have the same name and exactly the same size, but their contents are never compared, so two different files can still match. Open and check them before deleting anything. Copies with different names aren't detected.

### Why are some folders or files missing?

Browsers only list folders that contain at least one file, so empty folders don't appear, and a browser may skip files it isn't allowed to read. Sizes are each file's own size, which can differ slightly from the space it takes up on disk.

### Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Not really. Mobile browsers don't let a web page open a whole folder, so the analyzer needs a desktop browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on a computer.
