## How to Extract Frames from a Video

One video at a time, up to 300 images per session.

Step 1

Drop or choose a video. Its length, size and frame rate appear straight away.

Step 2

Pick how to grab frames: every N seconds, evenly spaced, or the current frame. Narrow the time range if you only need part of the clip.

Step 3

Choose JPG, PNG or WebP and a size, then save images one by one or download them all as a zip.

## Why Use This Frame Extractor?

Stills for thumbnails, storyboards, reference shots and bug reports, without opening an editor.

### Every Few Seconds

Pull a frame every 0.5, 1, 2, 5 or 10 seconds, or any interval you type, across the whole video or a range.

### The Exact Frame

Scrub with the slider or arrow keys and save the frame on screen. Repeat to build your own set.

### Sorted, Zipped

Files are named by timestamp, like clip-01m12s340.jpg, so they stay in order in any folder.

## Your Video Stays Private

Screen recordings, family clips and unreleased footage shouldn't need a stranger's server just to grab a still.

### No Uploads

Frames are decoded and saved as images in this browser tab. Only the page's own code is downloaded, from dragbin.com.

### Desktop or Phone

Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop; Chrome and Safari on phones, with files up to 500 MB.

### Full Resolution

Keep the video's own size, or cap the width at 1920, 1280 or 640 pixels for lighter files.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The video is decoded and the images are made inside your browser tab, then saved straight to your device. The page downloads its video engine code from dragbin.com, but your video and the frames never leave your computer or phone.

### Why is there a limit of 300 images?

Every image stays in your browser's memory until you download it or leave the page. Hundreds of full-size frames can use gigabytes, which crashes tabs, especially on phones. For more stills, pick a longer interval or a shorter part of the video, download that set, then run the next part.

### Which videos and browsers work?

MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV files with a codec your browser can decode, in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari (16.4 or later) on desktop, and Chrome or Safari on phones. Firefox for Android can't decode video frames for web pages yet. HEVC (H.265) works in Safari and in Chrome or Edge on devices with hardware support, but not in Firefox.

### Are the frames full quality?

With Original size, each image has the video's display resolution, with any rotation from the phone that recorded it applied. PNG keeps the decoded frame exactly. JPG and WebP are smaller and use the quality you set. Stills can't be sharper than the video itself, so compression blur or motion blur in the footage shows up in them too.

### Why did I get fewer images than I asked for?

Each time picks the frame on screen at that moment. If your interval is shorter than the gap between frames, for example every 0.5 seconds in a 1 frame per second timelapse, two times land on the same frame and it's saved once. Corrupt stretches of a file can also yield no frame.

### I chose WebP but got PNG files. Why?

Safari can't create WebP images from a web page, so it hands back PNG instead. The tool names those files .png and tells you when it happens. Choose JPG for small files in Safari.
