# Fade Audio In and Out Online

Songs that start with a jolt or stop dead mid-note sound unfinished. Add a smooth fade-in, a fade-out or both to one track or a whole batch, right in your browser.

If a file is shorter than the two fades together, both are shortened in proportion so they meet. Settings apply to files you add next.

## How to Fade Audio In and Out

Set the fade lengths, add your files, and save the results.

Step 1

Choose how many seconds the fade-in and fade-out should last, and pick a fade curve.

Step 2

Drop, paste or pick your audio files. They're processed one after another.

Step 3

Listen to the preview, then download each file or all of them as a zip.

## Why Use This Audio Fader?

It does one job, fades, and lets you control the parts that matter.

### Three Fade Curves

Linear, equal-power or logarithmic, so the fade can sound gentle, even or quick to swell.

### Batch Fades

Apply the same fade to a whole set of tracks and download them together as a zip.

### See the Fade

A waveform preview shows exactly where the volume ramps up and down.

## Your Audio Stays on Your Device

Recordings can be private. This tool processes them inside your browser tab.

### No Uploads

Your audio is never sent to a server. The first time you save as MP3 the page downloads an MP3 encoder from dragbin.com, and for AAC output in browsers without a built-in AAC encoder it also downloads an AAC encoder.

### Keeps Your Format

By default the result matches the input format: MP3 stays MP3, WAV stays WAV.

### Desktop or Phone

Works in current Chrome, Edge and Firefox on computers, and in Safari 26 or later.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Is my audio uploaded anywhere?

No. Decoding, fading and encoding all happen in your browser tab. The only download is the page itself plus, the first time you save as MP3, an MP3 encoder fetched from dragbin.com, and for AAC output in browsers without a built-in AAC encoder, an AAC encoder from dragbin.com. Your files never leave your device.

### Which fade curve should I pick?

Linear changes the volume at a steady rate. Equal-power follows a sine curve, so it sounds even and avoids the slight dip a linear fade can have; it's a good default for music. Logarithmic rises quickly at first, so a fade-in reaches a usable volume sooner and a fade-out stays loud until near the end.

### What happens if the fades are longer than the file?

If the fade-in and fade-out together are longer than the audio, both are shortened by the same proportion so they meet in the middle. The result row tells you the lengths that were actually used.

### What format is the faded file saved in?

By default it matches the input: MP3 stays MP3, WAV stays WAV, AAC stays AAC, and Opus or Vorbis become Opus when your browser can encode Opus, otherwise MP3. FLAC is saved as WAV so it stays lossless. You can also choose MP3, WAV, AAC or Opus yourself.

### Is there a length limit?

Each file is held uncompressed in memory while it's faded, so files are limited to 20 minutes each on computers and 5 minutes on phones and tablets. Files are processed one at a time.

### Why doesn't it work in my browser?

The tool relies on the browser's built-in audio decoders and encoders (WebCodecs). Current Chrome, Edge and Firefox on computers support them, as does Safari 26 or later. Older Safari versions and Firefox for Android can only fade WAV files.
