It keeps files small, but plenty of Windows PCs, Android apps and website upload forms can't read it. Converting to JPG gives you a file that opens almost anywhere. ### Are my photos uploaded anywhere? No. Conversion happens in your browser tab. Safari can read HEIC on its own; in other browsers the page first downloads a HEIC decoder (about 1.5 MB, from dragbin.com). Your photos themselves are never sent to any server. ### Does converting keep the photo's location and camera details? No. The photo is re-encoded, and the new file carries no EXIF metadata: no GPS location, camera model or original date taken. Photo apps may therefore sort converted files by the date you converted them. ### Will portrait photos come out the right way up?
