Accuracy: printed text in clear screenshots and scans reads best. Handwriting, stylised or decorative fonts, angled photos and blurry images are hard for OCR, so check the text before you use it.

## How to Convert an Image to Text

Choose the language, add your images, and collect the text.

Step 1

Pick English, Hindi, or both, and turn on contrast help for faint text if you need it.

Step 2

Drop, choose or paste your images. Each one is read in turn, with progress shown as it goes.

Step 3

Edit the text if needed, then copy it, save a .txt file, or download every file as a zip.

## Why Use This OCR Tool?

It does the job most people need from OCR: get readable text out of an image quickly, and see which words to double-check.

### Paste a Screenshot

Copy a screenshot and paste it straight onto the page. No need to save it as a file first.

### See What to Check

Every image gets an average confidence score, and the word-box view outlines the words the engine was unsure about.

### English and Hindi

Read English, Hindi in Devanagari script, or pages that mix the two.

## Your Images Stay on Your Device

Screenshots often hold things you'd rather not share: messages, account numbers, documents. This tool never sends them anywhere.

### No Uploads

Recognition runs in your browser tab. On first use the page downloads the OCR engine and language data from dragbin.com; your images are never sent.

### Batch Friendly

Add up to 20 images at once. Each gets its own result, and all the text files download together as a zip.

### Desktop or Phone

Works in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on computers, phones and tablets.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Text recognition runs inside your browser tab and your images never leave your device. The first time you use the tool, the page downloads the OCR engine (about 4 MB) and the language data (about 3 MB for English, 1.4 MB for Hindi) from dragbin.com. If your browser can't open iPhone HEIC photos itself, it also downloads a HEIC decoder from dragbin.com the first time you add one. Your browser keeps the language data, so later visits start faster.

### How accurate is the text recognition?

Clear screenshots, scanned pages and photos of printed text usually come out well. Handwriting, decorative or stylised fonts, curved or angled text, low light and heavy JPEG blur are hard for any OCR engine, so check the result before you rely on it. Each image shows an average confidence score, and the word-box view outlines the words the engine was least sure about.

### Which languages can it read?

English, Hindi (Devanagari script), or both together for pages that mix the two. Pick the language before adding images. Choosing English + Hindi when a page is only in one language can lower accuracy slightly, so use it only for mixed text.

### What image formats can I use?

JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP, GIF (the first frame) and iPhone HEIC photos. You can also paste a screenshot straight from your clipboard. Very large photos are scaled down to about 16.7 megapixels first, and small images are enlarged, which helps the engine read small text.

### What does the 'Improve contrast' option do?

It converts the image to greyscale and boosts contrast before recognition. That often helps with faint print, coloured text or text on tinted backgrounds. On clean black-on-white screenshots it makes little difference.

### Can I edit the text before saving it?

Yes. The recognised text appears in an editable box, so you can fix mistakes and then copy it or download it as a .txt file. With several images you can download every text file together in one zip.
