# Merge Videos Online: Join Clips into One MP4

Put several video clips in the order you want and save them as a single MP4. Clips of different sizes and frame rates can go together. Everything happens in your browser, so your footage stays on your device.

MP4 - MOV - MKV - WebM - 2 to 20 clips - up to 15 minutes in total

Choose videos

Your videos never leave your device. Merging re-encodes the sound, and the picture too unless the fast option is available and chosen. If your browser has no AAC encoder of its own, one is downloaded from dragbin.com the first time it's needed.

AAC encoding (in browsers without a built-in AAC encoder) by [FFmpeg's libavcodec](https://ffmpeg.org/) ([LGPL-2.1-or-later](https://ffmpeg.org/legal.html)), loaded as a separate file only when needed.

## Merged your clips? Keep the originals safe

The source footage is the part you can't recreate. Store it in DragBin, encrypted on your device before it's uploaded. DragBin protects files with [client side](/client-side-encryption/), [quantum resistant encryption](/post-quantum-encryption/) (ML-KEM + AES-256) keeping sensitive data private with a [zero knowledge](/zero-knowledge-encryption/) security architecture.

## Why Use This Video Joiner?

It handles mismatched clips sensibly and tells you exactly what it will do to each one.

### Any Order You Like

Drag clips with a mouse, or move them with buttons on a phone or keyboard. Each clip shows a thumbnail, length, size and frame rate.

### Mixed Clips Welcome

Clips with a different shape are fitted inside the frame with black bars, never cropped or stretched. Clips without sound get silence.

### Fast When It Can Be

When every clip was recorded with the same settings, the video can be joined without re-encoding, in a fraction of the time.

## Your Footage Stays on Your Device

Holiday clips, client work and screen recordings are private. This joiner never sends them anywhere.

### No Uploads

Clips are decoded and encoded inside your browser tab. Only the page's code, and an AAC encoder if your browser lacks one, download from dragbin.com.

### Computer or Phone

Works in current Chrome, Edge and Firefox on a computer, and in Safari 26 or later. Phones and tablets handle up to 5 minutes in total.

### One Standard File

The result is an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound, which plays almost anywhere.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Are my videos uploaded anywhere?

No. The clips are read, joined and encoded inside your browser tab and are never sent to a server. The page only downloads its own code from dragbin.com, plus an AAC audio encoder from dragbin.com if your browser doesn't have one built in.

### Does merging re-encode my videos?

Usually, yes. Each clip is decoded and encoded again as H.264 video with AAC sound at the size, frame rate and quality you choose, which takes a while and loses a little quality. When every clip has exactly the same video format, size and encoder settings, for example several clips from the same phone or camera, a fast option appears that copies the video untouched. The sound is still re-encoded in that mode so every clip fits one audio track.

### What happens when the clips have different sizes or frame rates?

The merged video uses the first clip's size, or 1080p or 720p in the first clip's shape. Every other clip is scaled to fit inside that frame without cropping or stretching, so a clip with a different shape, such as a portrait phone video in a landscape merge, gets black bars. The frame rate is the first clip's (up to 60 fps) or 30 fps; clips at other rates have frames repeated or skipped to match. Sound is converted to 48 kHz stereo, and a clip with no sound becomes silence for its length.

### How many clips and how much video can I merge?

From 2 to 20 clips, up to 15 minutes in total on a computer and 5 minutes on a phone or tablet. Each file can be up to 2 GB on a computer and 500 MB on a phone or tablet. The limits exist because the sound track and the finished video are held in your device's memory until you download it.

### Which files and browsers work?

MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM clips work, as long as your browser can decode their video, and the result is always an MP4. You need current Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer, or Safari 16.4 or later. Firefox for Android can't process video. Safari before version 26 can't decode audio, so sound from your clips can't be kept there and the merged video would be silent; the clip list tells you before you merge.
