It measures the loudness of every 10 milliseconds of audio. A stretch that stays below the threshold (−40 dB by default) for at least the minimum length (0.5 seconds by default) counts as silence. Raise the threshold to catch background hum or room noise; lower it if quiet words are being cut. ### What's the difference between the two modes? "Trim start and end only" removes dead air before the first sound and after the last one and leaves everything in between alone. "Remove all long pauses" also shortens every pause in the middle, so each one is left with just the padding you chose on either side. ### Will the edits click or sound chopped? Each join gets a 10 ms crossfade, so there's no click where audio was removed. The padding (0.1 seconds by default) keeps a little room around every word, so speech doesn't run together.
