No. The video is read and re-encoded inside your browser tab using its built-in video encoder, and the result is saved straight to your device. If you lower the audio bitrate (or the audio has to be converted) in a browser without its own AAC encoder, such as Firefox, the page downloads an AAC encoder from dragbin.com once. Only the encoder is downloaded; your video never leaves your device. ### How does compressing to a target size like 10 MB work? The compressor divides the size you picked by the video's length to get a bitrate, sets aside room for the audio, and keeps about 8% spare for the file's own overhead. Encoders don't hit a bitrate exactly, so if the first result is still over the target it tries again, up to two more times, at a proportionally lower bitrate. If it's still over after that, you get the closest result and a note.
