# Volume Booster: Make Audio Louder Online

A voice memo you can barely hear, a podcast clip that's quieter than the rest, a track that blasts. Turn audio files up or down by a set number of decibels, or let Maximize find the loudest level that doesn't clip.

Boosts that would push peaks past full scale are softly limited instead of clipped.

## How to Make Audio Louder

Set the volume, add your files, and save the results.

Step 1

Drag the slider to the boost or cut you want, or press Maximize.

Step 2

Drop, paste or pick one or more audio files. They're processed straight away.

Step 3

Play the result to check it, then download each file or all of them as a zip.

## Why Use This Volume Booster?

It shows you what it did to each file, so you're not guessing.

### Peak Levels Shown

Each file lists its peak level in dBFS before and after, plus the gain that was applied.

### No Harsh Clipping

Peaks a boost would push past full scale are rounded off by a soft limiter, and you're told how many there were.

### Whole Batches

Add several files at once; Maximize sets the right boost for each one separately.

## Your Audio Stays on Your Device

Recordings can be private. This tool processes them inside your browser tab.

### No Uploads

Decoding and encoding run locally. The first time you save as MP3 the page fetches an MP3 encoder from dragbin.com, and for AAC output in browsers without a built-in AAC encoder it also fetches an AAC encoder; your audio is never sent anywhere.

### Format Kept

By default an MP3 comes back as MP3 and a WAV as WAV. You can also pick MP3, WAV, M4A or OGG.

### Computer or Phone

Works in current Chrome, Edge and Firefox on computers and Android, and in Safari 26 or later.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How much louder can I make a file?

The slider goes from −20 dB to +20 dB. +6 dB roughly doubles the sample values and +20 dB multiplies them by ten. Maximize instead picks, for each file, the largest boost that keeps its loudest peak just under full scale (−0.1 dBFS).

### What happens if the boost would cause clipping?

Samples pushed past full scale would normally clip and crackle. Here they go through a soft limiter instead: peaks above −1 dBFS are rounded off smoothly toward full scale. The result shows what share of samples needed limiting, so you can back the boost off if that number is high.

### Are my audio files uploaded?

No. Decoding, the volume change and encoding all happen in your browser tab. The first time you save as MP3 the page downloads an MP3 encoder from dragbin.com, and for AAC output in browsers without a built-in AAC encoder it also downloads an AAC encoder; your audio never leaves your device.

### Which formats does it support?

It reads MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG/Opus, FLAC and WebM, plus the audio track of MP4, MOV and MKV videos. Output can be MP3, WAV, M4A (AAC) or OGG (Opus); Opus appears only if your browser can encode it. FLAC files are saved as WAV so they stay lossless.

### Is there a length limit?

Yes. The whole track is held in memory while it's processed, so files can be up to 20 minutes long on a computer and 5 minutes on a phone or tablet.

### Why doesn't it work in my browser?

Compressed audio is decoded with the browser's WebCodecs audio support, which Safari only added in version 26 and Firefox for Android doesn't have yet. On those browsers WAV files still work; for other formats use Chrome, Edge, Firefox on a computer, or Safari 26 or later.
